Another option would be to see if we can make a disk image of the Eclipse install - to work like most other installation packages for OS X apps. This could be added to the warning page that's shown when you select the OS X download that specifies the minimum OS and JRE requirements. I tried downloading 7.0.3 again, but get the same message when I try to open it. I do not have an original as it was a free download. I get the message 'sorry, expander will not work without the stuffit engine. We should investigate if it's possible to make archives for OS X that work with StuffIt Expander, or very clearly indicate on the download page that you must use an alternate unzip program to extract the archive. I somehow lost the stuffit engine necessary to operate my stuffit expander 7.0.3. Because of this, many new users are puzzled by the lack of an Eclipse executable in the resulting directory. But it does this silently, without showing an error, so it looks like the unzip operation completed successfully. It appears as if the program automatically unzips the src.zips included in the package, then overloads and dies somewhere along in the extraction process. As of September 2011, the Linux version is no longer available for download from the official page. This program does not unzip the Eclipse SDK packages successfully. The latest version for Mac OS 9 is 7.0.3. ![]() The default unzip program on OS X is StuffIt Expander.
